The Background
Hospice UK is the national charity for hospice and end of life care. The organisation works to ensure everyone affected by death, dying and bereavement gets the care and support they need, when they need it. The Hospice UK annual conference has grown in popularity over the last 20 years and is known within the industry as a fantastic opportunity for health care professionals to meet, collaborate and expand their knowledge.
The Brief
The 2023 conference title and theme was ‘Thinking Differently.’ Thinking about the big trends, challenges and opportunities in hospice and end of life care across all four nations of the UK.
As a step forward from previous years, Compleat supported Hospice UK with the implementation of sophisticated event technology, fitting with the theme of thinking differently.
The Solution
Abstracts: In the months leading up to the event, delegates submitted their papers with ease through our user-friendly abstract management system. Over 300 abstracts were processed on behalf of Hospice UK and these were then peer reviewed and scored by industry professionals through the online portal. 250 abstracts were displayed as posters within the exhibition or as part of the sessions in an oral format.
Event Technology: The adoption of more sophisticated event technology such as registration kiosks and lead generation for exhibitors created a more engaging, efficient and memorable experience for attendees. Delegate badges included a personalised QR code which allowed exhibitors to collect leads electronically via the exhibitor portal, ensuring all information was kept in a central, secure location which could then be followed up and nurtured post event.
On-Site Coordination: Heather, Lisa, Roy and Georgina were on-site for the duration of the event. Starting with build day, ensuring the exhibition was built as agreed and within the set timeframe all the way through to the final contractor leaving the site.
Speaker and Exhibitor Management: Through effective communication with participants and stakeholders Compleat ensured all information had been communicated and key deadlines were met.
The Result
High Attendance: Hospice UK exceeded expectations with their record number of delegates joining the conference either online or in person.
Industry Reputation: Hospice UK were able to deliver another highly valuable and professional conference for individuals working within the hospice and end of life sector.
Knowledge Sharing: Through networking sessions and additional functions like a drinks reception, delegates were able to share knowledge, experiences and meet new people working within the sector.
